The Giant Sunhorse a three piece psychedelic blues outfit formed by Redfern brothers Simon & John & associate Mike Mitton where into the 60’s underground, more obscure the better, being avid record collectors after hearing Blue Cheers: Vincebus Eruptum they decided to go HEAVY.
The Band decided it was time to release an album. With no record companies beating down their door in the era of synth pop they decided to self finance an EP of their own. The three where avid fans of the Adams Family watching it after rehearsals when they found out Morticia (Carolyn Jones) had recently died they renamed the band the Morticians as tribute.
February the EP is duly recorded BUT A SCHISM!, just before the recording session MICHAEL WALKS! WHAT NOW? SALVATION IS AT HAND! Dickey Skukins is drafted in from local band: Genetix but sadly the Redfern brothers aren’t happy with the production, disappointed they shelved the project.
Different musicians are trialed: An Eastbourne art student Sylvie showed up on violin, Chigley from local village of Ripe came in on the second guitar and base player/vocalist Neil Kapoor. Many where tried and rejected including future Hawkwind base player Niall Hone… After much searching Ben Sofa-Coffin fit the bill, an art student who lived minutes away from Morticians HQ in the heart of Eastbourne oldtown.
Fully fledged The Morticians play their first paid gig.
